Die struck pins are also referred to as “bare metal pins” or “colorless pins” because of their inherent lack of enamel coloring. They are created by striking a base metal, usually consisting of either iron, brass or a zinc alloy, using a cylindrical die (aka mold). Afterwards, they are plated with the metal of your choice. Because there is no coloring process, the turnaround time is significantly shorter than that of their enamel counterparts. Since they’re colorless, they have a classic look that matches any color of attire.

Most trading pins are soft enamel, are at least 1.5″ in size, and have 2 posts with rubber clutches so that they stay secure while being worn, and don’t irritate the skin. Also, consider making your custom pin stand out by incorporating one of our optional add-ons into your design. Some of the most popular add-ons for trading pins are danglers, spinners, and glitter enamel, but feel free to get creative!

Silkscreen pins, are a fantastic option if you are looking for enamel pins with clean, crisp detailing. Since the color is printed onto the surface of the pin, there is no need for metal borders to separate it from other colors. This makes it ideal for branding and fine details. One thing to note is that the silkscreened color can scratch off due to normal wear and tear, and are therefore less durable than soft and hard enamel pins. Avoid putting them in your pockets or attaching them to something that is likely to come in contact with other objects.

Custom offset printed pins are a good option if you have a complex design with gradients and small detailing, or if you’re in a time crunch! We can make your offset pins in any shape (given that it meet minimum factory specs), and any plating option. Your printed image is protected with an epoxy coating that gives the custom pins a smooth texture. One thing to keep in mind is that the epoxy can yellow over time from exposure to UV radiation and high temperatures. So don’t leave them exposed to the elements!
